Lecturer in Media and Communications


Haili Li is a lecturer in Media and Communications at the Department of Communications, Drama and Film, University of Exeter. Prior to joining Exeter in July 2023, she worked as a postdoc for the ERC project Digital Governance in China at Freie Universität Berlin (2021-2023). Haili obtained her PhD degree from the Digital Media Research Centre, Queensland University of Technology in September, 2021. Her research has been primarily focused on digital media and cultures, digital technologies and public engagement, digital inequalities, migration, and the intersections between race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. Haili Li has been endorsed as a global talent by the British Academy starting from June 2023.

Haili Li welcomes research proposals/projects from a diverse array of domains, encompassing but not limited to digital media and cultures, intercultural communication, digital technologies and public engagement, digital inequalities, unfairness and inclusion, migration, as well as race, gender, and sexuality studies.

In the autumn term of 2023-2024, I will be the co-convenor for the MA module Media and Communications: Advanced Theory and Concepts, and teach 4 sessions within this module. I will also engage in collaborative teaching activities for other modules, including Communications in the 21st Century (2 sessions) and Communications in the Workplace (seminar).
