Hippolyte Broud holds a degree in Classical Studies from University College London and pursued further training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where he earned an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice and an MA in Voice Studies: Teaching and Coaching. He is currently a second-year PhD candidate at the University of Exeter, researching under the supervision of Professor Konstantinos Thomaidis. His doctoral work explores the intersections of voice pedagogy, theatrical imitation, and the historical transmission of vocal techniques, with a particular focus on archival recordings and how they inform contemporary vocal practice.
Alongside his academic work, he teaches voice and speech at Cours Cochet-Delavène in Paris. He is also the co-artistic director of Inflexions, a theatre company based in Lorraine, France. In November 2024, the company premiered its first performance, Archaeology of John Gielgud’s Voice, at Camden People’s Theatre in London.
