Drama
Samantha Sully is a PhD student funded by the SWWDTP (South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership) for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), focusing on the intersection of disability studies and video games. Her research examines the representation of disabled characters and narratives within video games and explores the impact these portrayals have on the identities and experiences of disabled players. Through her work, she aims to contribute to a more inclusive understanding of how digital media shapes the self-perception and social interactions of disabled individuals, as well as highlighting the broader implications for accessibility and representation in gaming.
This PhD is supervised by Dr Kara Reilly, The University of Exeter (Department of Communications, Drama and Film), Professor Heike Roms, The University of Exeter (Department of Communications, Drama and Film), and Dr Coral Manton, Bath Spa University (Bath School of Design).
