Wenyan Pu is a PhD student at the University of Exeter in Drama.
Wenyan's PhD focuses on comic cross-dressing in British Pantomime and Chinese Xiqu (traditional theatre). She is also interested in contemporary stagings of Shakespeare, feminism and theatre, and fan culture.
Wenyan has presented on caidan (comical female roles cross-dressed by male comedians in Chinese traditional theatre) at Chinoperl conference (Seattle, 2024); about all-female theatre yueju at annual conference for Association for Asian Studies (Seattle, 2024); about drag queen as panto Dames at IFTR (Manila, 2024) and TaPRA (Newcastle upon Tyne, 2024).
