Yudi Wu (They/He)
Postgraduate Researcher
Drama
Yudi Wu is a 'hyper-local' Community Arts Practitioner, and an 'extremely online' Creative Technologist based in Exeter. As a Community Arts Practitioner, they actively work with immigrants and queer communities, through community projects and other highly participatory artistic events in the small places of the South West. As a Creative Technologist, they create interactive experiences in projection, video game engines, AR, and web using low-tech, accessible digital tools.
As a practice-based researcher, Yudi is actively exploring the possibilities of combining the fields of community arts with creative technology. Their current practice-research project is on digital/hybrid ways of local community organising, co-creating art and making social change, working with people who experience intersectional invisibility in the Non-Metropolitan South West England.
Yudi's project is co-supervised by Dr Bryan Brown, University of Exeter (Department of Communications, Drama and Film), Dr Francesco Bentivegna, University of Bristol (Department of Theatre), and Dr Aditya Deshbandhu (Department of Communications, Drama and Film). It is funded by the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership (SWWDTP2) under UKRI AHRC.
