Postgraduate research
We are home to a diverse and vibrant postgraduate research community, guided by expertise across American, British, European, East Asian, Indian and South Asian, African and Latin American screen studies. We have particular strengths in theory, history and archival studies, documentary, industry studies and production cultures, film and the environment, transnational and world cinemas, feminist, queer and gender studies. We offer supervision of written PhDs, and well as by-practice PhD projects. All our students benefit from two supervisors for their projects, and receive extensive training in research methods. Students have regular opportunities to share their work in our Department research seminars and events, and to build the skills and expertise needed for the next step in their careers. All our postgraduate researchers are part of The Exeter Screen Studies Centre, an interdisciplinary hub for screen studies research, teaching and activities at the University of Exeter.
